PRIME Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has warned farmers that the dry weather conditions could extend through to the end of this year right into early 2027.
He said climate variability and climate change were having an increasing impact on agriculture.
“Our forecast indicates the possibility of dry conditions through the end of 2026 and until early 2027,” he said.
Mr Rabuka said climate considerations needed to become part of normal agricultural planning.
His comments come as farmers across the Northern Division face pressure from dry conditions and limited water supplies.
He said Fiji needed to ensure agricultural development was resilient to changing climate conditions.
