Employment Minister Agni Deo Singh passes away in Brisbane

Minister for Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations Agni Deo Singh has died in Brisbane.

The Office of the Prime Minister confirmed Mr Singh’s passing in a statement this evening, saying he died today.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has expressed his condolences to Mr Singh’s family, loved ones, colleagues and friends.

Mr Rabuka paid tribute to the late minister’s contribution to Fiji, particularly his service to workers.

“Prime Minister Rabuka acknowledges the late Honourable Singh’s dedicated service to the workers and people of Fiji and his invaluable contribution to the Government and the nation,” the statement said.

Mr Singh served as Minister for Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations in the Coalition Government.

The Government said further details regarding funeral arrangements and other official matters would be announced in due course.

It has also asked members of the public and the media to respect the privacy of Mr Singh’s family during their period of mourning.
