THE McDonald’s Nadi Women’s team is determined to bounce back when it faces Nadroga Women in Round Eight of the Marama Cup competition today at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

Nadi suffered a setback against Ba Women last week, but team manager Amelia Tamani says the side has accepted the result and shifted its focus towards the next challenge.

Tamani said the team has used the week to identify and work on areas that need improvement, with the scrum a major focus ahead of the Nadroga clash.

“Against Nadroga, the McDonald’s Nadi girls are really preparing well to face them today,” Tamani said.

“One of their main strengths is their scrum, they are good with that. We have worked to work on our scrum to give them a good game”

Nadi will also maintain its combination, with no new players making their debut this week.

Tamani said the team had only one debutant in last week’s match and she is expected to return to the field against Nadroga.

Following the loss to Ba, Tamani said the coaching staff and management did not dwell on the disappointment, instead encouraging the players to learn from the experience and move forward.

“We accept the loss and we have moved forward,” she said.

“We have worked on our weaknesses with the girls. The only message was that win is a win, lose is a lose.”

With the match being Nadi’s final home game of the competition, Tamani has called on supporters to turn out and rally behind the team.

“Once again, thank you so much to all the sponsors and the executives for believing in us and for the support,” she said.

“We call out all the supporters to come and support the girls as this will be our last home game.”

Nadi will be aiming to finish its home campaign strongly against a Nadroga side expected to provide a stern challenge.

The game will kick off at 11.30am today.
