THE death of an Australian national, who died from knife wounds sustained at his home at a Nadi resort in 2024, is being treated as an alleged murder.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime Loraini Seru confirmed Jason Rigby, who was a manager at Crowne Plaza Hotel, was allegedly murdered following a reassessment of the case files.
“The investigation file is with the ODPP (Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions) and the matter was classified as murder following a review of the investigation findings,” said ACP Seru.
Mr Rigby was reportedly found by his partner at his staff accommodation located near the resort in December 2024. A chef’s knife covered with Mr Rigby’s blood was also found in the property.
Despite concerns by Mr Rigby’s close family members about the nature of his death, the case was initially classified as a suicide.
