A CLERICAL officer charged with drug related matters has been issued a stop departure order by the Suva Magistrates Court.
Mereseini Ledua appeared before Magistrate Deepika Prakash yesterday charged with a count each of importing illicit drugs and being in possession of illicit drugs namely methamphetamine.
She was arrested last Friday after picking up a parcel at the Suva Post Office.
The drugs weighing 101.4 grams and valued at $115,000 dollars was packed in a bottle of peanut butter, which was sent from America.
Ms Ledua was granted bail on strict bail conditions by the court.
The court heard that in her formal bail application, Ms Ledua had indicated her intentions of resuming her studies at the Fiji National University (FNU) and she was in the process of filling in her application at FNU.
Police prosecutor Cpl Luke Qerewaqa did not object to bail however asked the court if a curfew could be placed on the accused as part of her bail conditions.
Ms Prakash released her on bail on $1000 cash bail bond and advised her not to re-offend and ordered Ms Ledua to surrender her passport.
She also imposed a curfew on Ms Ledua from 6pm to 6am.
The matter now will be called on July 31, for plea.
