THE Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge Reconstruction Project is progressing, with construction continuing on the bridge structure and approach roads and completion targeted for the end of 2027.
Government said the Suva-side abutment had been completed, with curing now underway as work continued on the remaining bridge piling.
The project team is working to complete all outstanding piling works, which will pave the way for the relocation of existing utilities.
“Following the completion of the piling works, utility relocation works will commence to facilitate the next stages of construction,” the Government statement read.
Construction was in progress across both the bridge and approach roads as the project moved through its next stages.
The bridge reconstruction is a key infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and transport infrastructure in the greater Suva area.
Government said the project team was working closely with the consultant, contractor, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and relevant utility agencies to keep the project on schedule.
The agencies were also coordinating to ensure construction was carried out safely and efficiently and in line with the approved project program.
