At Alliance Française of Suva, students are taking part in the operation “Dis moi 10 mots — 10 words of Francophonie” for many years. This year, CNED students are involved in two projects. In the first one, they will write few press articles involving these “10 words”, mostly in relation with numeric ussies. In the second project, the students are producing a work dealing with emotions through literature.
The CNED (Centre national d’enseignement à distance — National Centre for Distance Education) is a French public institution under the oversight of the Department of Education dedicated to providing distance learning material.
Dis moi 10 mots — 10 words of Francophonie — is an educational and cultural operation promoting French language throughout the world. The theme of the contest is to discover Francophonie through the digital world and the new words and expressions created around it. The topic of the “10 words of the Francophonie” this year is indeed “Tell me 10 words on the web” : avatar, canular, émoticône, favori, fureteur, héberger, nomade, nuage, pirate, télésnober.
This operation is organised in most of the 800 French Alliances around the globe, but also in French Institutes and schools of French-speaking countries. It is organised by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education, as well as the Fondation Alliance Française, the Institut Français and the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (International Organisation of La Francophonie).
The OIF is an international organisation representing countries and regions where French is the first (“mother”) or customary language, where a significant proportion of the population are francophones (French speakers) or where there is a notable affiliation with French culture. The organisation comprises 57 member states and governments, three associate members and twenty observers.
