FACING players with more experience will be part of the challenge for 17-year-old Abraham Chand when Global Care Suva FC meets Dayals Steel Ba FC in the first semifinal this weekend.
The DAV College, Suva student is the youngest player in the Global Care Suva FC squad, but Chand is looking forward to the opportunity to test himself in an important match.
For the teenager, reaching the semifinal is something he is proud of after the team secured its place in the final stages of the competition.
“I’m proud of the team that we qualified for the same finals, and we’ll try our best to win,” Chand said.
Chand started playing football at the age of 12 before joining Global Care Suva FC last year when he was 16.
His move to the club has seen him step into an environment where he plays alongside older players, providing him with valuable experience as he continues his football development.
That experience will now be put to the test against Dayals Steel Ba FC, with a place in the final at stake.
For Chand, the age difference between himself and some of his opponents is part of the challenge he has taken on since moving into senior football.
Rather than being intimidated by the occasion, the teenager is focused on giving his best and helping Global Care Suva FC get through the semifinal.
The match will also provide Chand with another opportunity to build his experience at a crucial stage of the competition.
Having started his football journey at 12 and joined Global Care Suva FC at 16, Chand has made steady progress in a short period.
Now, at 17, he faces a new test against Dayals Steel Ba FC, with the young midfielder determined to play his part as Global Care Suva FC pushes for a place in the final.
