A PROPOSED roadmap for a financial institution aimed at strengthening the financial position of iTaukei landowners is now set to go before the boards of Qelemaroroi Holdings Pte Ltd (QHL) and the iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB).
The roadmap is the key outcome of a Landowners Financial Institution Workshop held at Yatu Lau Lagoon Resort, Pacific Harbour, on Monday.
The initiative is focused on identifying a commercially sustainable financial model that can help landowners convert land-derived income into savings, investment, enterprise ownership and long-term wealth creation.
The workshop brought together landowner representatives, QHL directors, TLTB Board of Trustees representatives, executive management and financial-sector experts.
Discussions covered the commercial and regulatory requirements of establishing such an institution, including governance, risk management, capital and liquidity, technology systems and specialist expertise.
The International Finance Corporation provided an international perspective, while the Reserve Bank of Fiji contributed regulatory insights.
