Former Fiji high commissioner to the United Kingdom Jitoko Tikolevu has been appointed to the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) board.
Mr Tikolevu brings more than four decades of experience in public administration, taxation, revenue management, policy development and diplomacy to the Fund.
He had served as chief executive officer of the then-Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority from 2007-2015, leading significant fiscal and organisational reforms that had enhanced revenue collection, strengthened operational efficiency, and contributed to the agency receiving the Prime Minister’s Service Excellence Award in 2014.
Mr Tikolevu holds a Diploma in Business Studies from the Fiji Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Arts in Business Studies from the USP, and a Master of Taxation from the University of Auckland.
According to the Fund, he has held several prominent governance and leadership positions, including deputy chairman of the Fiji Development Bank and Investment Fiji boards, chairman of the Oceania Customs Organisation board, and chairman of the Pacific Islands Tax Administrations Association.
He also played a key role in negotiating double taxation agreements between Fiji and several international partners.
“FNPF welcomes Mr Tikolevu to the board. His extensive experience in leadership, governance, public finance and strategic policy will complement the board’s existing capabilities and support the Fund’s long-term strategic objectives,” the Fund stated.
Mr Tikolevu’s appointment came into effect on September 2.He will serve for a four-year term.
