ATTENDEES of the HOTEC trade show at Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort and Spa got a unique taste of the future this week as ORION Distribution introduced a new range of pastries to the local market.
Sales and logistics coordinator Christine Ragg said that the company showcased a small portion of its 200 varieties, featuring mini croissants, pain au chocolat, and savory options but a distinctive green pastry flavored with pandan stole the spotlight.
“It’s a coloured green and has a very unique flavour, nobody’s seen a green filling before, so everybody wanted to try,” Ms Ragg said.
Although pandan is well known in Malaysia and Indonesia, she said it was new to local palates.
“People have been able to taste all the different varieties and the feedback we’ve got is that the pastry is light and very tasty.
“There’s a lot of hoops to jump through with biosecurity and health, but as soon as we have all those permissions, we’ll be bringing in a frozen container and start to distribute.”
Based at Vuvale Plaza on Enamanu Road with storage in Natabua, ORION Distribution is eager to finalise permissions and start supplying accommodation providers nationwide.
“We’re looking forward to bringing something fresh and new to Fiji.”
