TRADE relationships between Australia and Fiji received a major boost as high-level discussions unfolded at the annual HOTEC tradeshow in Nadi.

The premier event featured strong international backing, highlighted by platinum sponsorship from Austrade alongside Trade and Investment Queensland.

Australia’s Trade Commissioner for the Pacific Rachel Howard said nearly half a million Australians travelled to Fiji each year, creating a powerful foundation for ongoing trade, investment, and supply chain development across the regional tourism market.

“Australian visitors, many of them come to Fiji. I think it is just under half a million visitors each year from Australia. We love the warmth and hospitality that Fiji provides, so it is a pretty significant partnership across this sector,” Ms Howard said.

Twelve Australian enterprises participated in the official trade delegation, showcasing products tailored to the regional hospitality and resort market.

Exhibitors presented a broad spectrum of commercial solutions, ranging from specialty Mediterranean foods, dairy, and meat to kitchen design services, wellness products, and premium beverage lines.

Ms Howard said the event provided an essential platform for established exporters to deepen existing commercial ties while allowing newer entries to explore emerging opportunities with local resorts, hotels, and distributors.

“It is a great opportunity for Australian suppliers to meet with local partners across Fiji and the wider region.

“We are looking for partnerships in market. We are just looking for those partnership opportunities and for those conversations to progress in the coming months.”
