GLOBAL Care Suva FC head coach Pita Rabo believes the team’s 2-1 defeat to Nasinu FC serves as an important lesson for his players to remain humble as they prepare for the semi-finals of the 2026 Extra Battle of the Giants tournament.
Suva became the first team to officially secure a semi-final spot despite going down to Nasinu in their final pool match yesterday.
The Capital side had earlier recorded convincing 3-1 victories over Navua FC and defending champions Labasa FC to establish a strong position in Group A.
Rabo said the team’s seven weeks of preparation had helped them build a competitive squad, but the loss to Nasinu was a timely reminder that they could not afford to become complacent.
“One of our biggest lessons is to humble ourselves as we go for the semi-final,” Rabo said.
“Coming out from the League and coming to BOG, we knew it would be tough. We have had a good seven weeks of preparation, building up this team, and we made sure there were some changes.”
Rabo said Suva’s strong start to the tournament had given the team confidence, but they now needed to focus on improving as they moved closer to the knockout stage.
“We came into the tournament having big wins, and now we start to move in the right direction,” he said.
