POLICE Blue captain Lydia Panapasa says the team’s performance at the Armed Native Constabulary (ANC) netball meet was encouraging despite having little time to prepare.
The side defeated Wardens 52-38 to claim the Tudravu Shield of the ANC Netball Tournament at the National Netball Centre in Suva yesterday.
Panapasa said the meet provided a valuable opportunity for the players to regroup and strengthen their combinations ahead of the Sukuna Bowl 2026 competition.
“We did not have time to prepare for this ANC meet, but I’m so glad that we came together,” she said.
“We are all netball players, we all know what to do, and this is not new.”
She said the players came together at short notice, balancing their work and other commitments to represent their team.
With the pressure of the Sukuna Bowl approaching, she said the opportunity to play together would help improve the team’s readiness for the competition.
“The pressure for Sukuna Bowl is real, and yes, this is helping us a lot in preparation for Sukuna Bowl,” she said.
She also acknowledged the ANC committee for providing the opportunity for the teams to meet and compete, describing it as a valuable experience.
The experience would help Police Blue build stronger combinations as they prepare for the 2026 Sukuna Bowl competition.
