THE Kaiviti Silktails gears up for their first home game of the NSWRL U21 Jersey Flegg Cup, facing St George Illawarra Dragons this Saturday at Churchill Park, Lautoka, at 12pm.
Adding to the excitement, the two teams will also compete for the Apisai Toga Bowl, a new initiative introduced this year as part of an agreement between the two clubs.
Team Manager Mereoni Tuinanuya said the squad was eager for the challenge.
“We have a few new players this season, as many from last year’s squad have moved on. The boys performed well in their pre-season matches in Australia and are now fully focused on the task ahead.”
She also highlighted the significance of the week, as New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) officials will be in Fiji for their annual conference at Denarau on Thursday and Friday.
“They arrive on Thursday morning and will conduct community clinics at Viseisei Village before holding their conference on Friday. On Saturday, they will all come to watch the game.”
Adding to the day’s excitement, Churchill Park will also host the West Secondary School quarterfinals, making it a thrilling occasion for fans and families.
With history, competition, and rugby development all coming together, this Saturday promises to be a memorable day for Fiji rugby league.
