THREE police officers will face the High Court in Suva later this month, charged with the murder of Lami Police Constable Peniasi Racagi.
Simione Rokosemudu, Iowane Sukanaisoro, and Ilisoni Waqa made their first court appearance before Magistrate Sufia Hamza, jointly charged with one count of murder.
It is alleged that between February 21 and 22, 2026, at Lami, the three officers, along with another, murdered Constable Racagi, acting either as joint principals, secondary offenders, or aiders and abettors.
The three have opted to be represented by the Legal Aid Commission.
Magistrate Hamza remanded the officers in custody and transferred the case to the High Court, where they are scheduled to appear on October 23.
The fresh charges follow the earlier discharge of two Qauia men, Keni Salawai, 42, and Jope Seniloli, 20, who had previously been charged with Constable Racagi’s murder.
In that matter, the State on May 22 filed a nolle prosequi before High Court judge Justice Daniel Goundar to discontinue proceedings against Mr Salawai and Mr Seniloli.
