FIJI Marriott Resort Momi Bay has partnered with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to provide workplace health screening for 101 associates, improving access to preventive healthcare services.

The initiative brought healthcare professionals from the ministry’s Family Health Unit to the resort to provide cervical cancer and breast health screening, as well as other health services.

Resort general manager Silvano Dressino acknowledged the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the Fiji Cancer Society for their partnership in supporting the health and wellbeing of the resort’s associates.

“Our people are our greatest asset, and their wellbeing is fundamental to everything we do,” he said.

“By providing access to important health services and education, we are creating opportunities for our associates to prioritise their health and wellbeing.”

Western Clinical lead for the Cervical Cancer Elimination Programme at the ministry’s Family Health Unit, Dr Elena Mataiciwa Ratumaitavuki said preventive healthcare was essential to improving the wellbeing of women and communities across Fiji.

“By bringing health services directly to the workplace, organisations can play a meaningful role in increasing awareness, encouraging early intervention, and improving access to care,” she said.

Dr Ratumaitavuki, who also represented the Fiji Cancer Society, thanked the resort for prioritising associate wellbeing and supporting a healthier workforce.

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay said it was among the first employers in the Nadroga corridor to facilitate workplace HPV screening, supporting national efforts to raise cervical cancer awareness and improve access to screening for women.

The program included Human Papillomavirus (HPV) screening for cervical cancer, non-communicable disease screening, and eye, dental, dietetics, and physiotherapy services.
