WOMEN in Tavua have been encouraged to build stronger businesses and expand their market opportunities through collaboration and the development of locally-made products.
Minister for Women Sashi Kiran made the call at the opening of the Tavua Women’s Mini ROC Market at Tavualevu Village this week.
Ms Kiran said the market provided a platform for women to display locally-made crafts, agricultural produce, value-added food products and clothing while exploring opportunities to reach wider markets.
“Working together would also enable women to meet larger orders while maintaining quality and consistency,” she said.
She urged participants to improve product quality, understand customer needs, and make use of local resources to develop distinctive Fijian products, particularly for the growing tourism market.
Ms Kiran also commended the newly-established forum for bringing women’s groups together and creating opportunities to share skills, promote their products and strengthen community connections.
She said the three-day event market was an important step towards strengthening women’s economic empowerment, building confidence, and creating better opportunities for women and their families.
