Playing at home to boost Fijians

THERE is no greater inspiration than to play on home ground in front of your countrymen cheering you on.

These were the words of both the Fiji men’s and the Fijiana 7s coaches as they prepare to compete for the Oceanic 7s rugby crown against their neighbours.

Fiji 7s trainer Nacanieli Cawanibuka said playing at home would be a real booster for them.

“Well there is no bigger motivation than that and I think it has been a long time since we played on home turf,” Cawanibuka said.

“The boys have been thinking and talking about it the whole time they have been in camp. We also totally understand that the people’s expectations are really quite high and we are doing all we can to prepare ourselves as best as we can for the competition.”

Fijiana 7s coach Iliesa Tanivula said their players were geared up for the upcoming Oceania Sevens.

“We are concentrating on doing things right come game day for ourselves and for the fans also since we are playing in our back yard so I guess as a team we have got to get up for it,” Tanivula said.
