NAITASIRI and Nadi will battle for the top spot when the two leading teams meet in the Skipper Cup rugby competition at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori today, with just one point separating the two sides.
The narrow gap adds extra importance to the Round 10 clash as both teams look to strengthen their position in the competition heading into the later stages of the season.
Playing at Ratu Cakobau Park, Naitasiri will be determined to make home advantage count against a Nadi side that will be equally eager to collect valuable competition points.
Naitasiri captain Saula Qiolevu said preparations have gone well as the team gears up for a tough clash against second-placed Nadi, in the Skipper Cup competition today.
“It’s been a tough week of preparation, and training intensity is building as we get ready for a crucial clash,” Qiolevu said.
Naitasiri will look to build on its recent performances and produce a disciplined display across the 80 minutes.
“We will try our best,” he added.
Nadi, meanwhile, will need to remain composed and take its opportunities if it is to come away with an important away victory.
The side had defeated Malolo last week and will look to build on that confidence when they take on points table leaders Naitasiri today.
Captain of the Nadi side Peni Naruma credited the coaching panels for their victory last week, and says the side looks forward to this week’s clash.
“Hats off to the coaching panels for their tireless effort, and we were able to overcome Malolo knowing they are a champion side.”
“Last week’s win is for our fans and this week; we will go again.”
