THE Dreketi Central College open girls’ team has firmly stamped it’s mark at the Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Championships held at Jai Narayan College grounds on Rewa Street, Suva.
The northern rally champions swept through their pool with an unbeaten record, defeating Saint Francis College, Lautoka Central College, and Suva Sangam College in commanding fashion.
This impressive run sets them as one of the favourites in the girls open grade in todays quarter-finals.
Captain Vilomena Waseanayabaki expressed immense pride in her team’s performance and unwavering focus on the ultimate prize.
“This competition has been an incredible experience for us. We have held our own against tough opponents, and our determination is clear — we aim to go all the way and clinch the title,” she said confidently.
Their hard work and dedication, built on strong preparation back home, have clearly paid off on the national stage.
“The preparation was tough, but it has brought us this far. We are showing what Dreketi netball is all about here in Suva,” Waseanayabaki added.
For many of the players, this year’s championships hold special significance as it marks their final year of high school.
A victory in Suva would be the perfect send-off for this talented group.
The captain also took time to thank the school management, parents, and former students who have stood behind the team throughout the season.
“A huge thank you to our school and management for supporting us and sending us to compete at this level,” she said.”
