YOUTH groups that want government assistance must ensure they provide their monthly reports to its ministry, according to its line minister Jese Saukuru.
Mr Saukuru said proper reporting allowed the government to understand the work being carried out by youth organisations and identify where assistance was most needed.
“The handing out of assistance demonstrates that our youth groups are active and making a meaningful contribution to their communities,” he said.
While speaking to youths at Dogoru Village in Macuata, he said Government assistance was also available to groups that regularly submitted their monthly reports.
“When proper reports are submitted, it becomes easier for the Government to identify areas where assistance can be provided and to ensure that support reaches the groups that need it most.”
He said youth organisations played an important role in communities and their activities needed to be properly documented.
“The Government wants to listen to the concerns of young people, support their interests and create opportunities for them to succeed.”
He said Government support would be more effective when it was based on a clear understanding of what youth groups were doing and the assistance they required.
He said active youth organisations could make a meaningful contribution to their communities and the country.
