BA Town Council special administrator Moshim Khan has been relieved of his role as head of the municipal council.

Minister for Local Government Maciu Nalumisa confirmed Mr Khan stood down from the role on September 9.

“The decision was taken pursuant to section 34 of the Local Government Act, following due enquiry and consideration of all relevant information,” Mr Nalumisa said.

“This decision has been made after careful consideration and in the interests of maintaining the integrity and credibility of municipal governance.”

According to the ministry, the two remaining Special Administrators of the Ba Town Council will continue their role in accordance with the Local Government Act and provide the necessary oversight and guidance to the chief executive officer on the council’s operations. Mr Khan was involved in a police investigation earlier this year.
