Local garment manufacturer and exporter Mark One Apparel Pte Ltd has achieved global recognition by winning the Best Class category at the 26th Global Performance Excellence Award (GPEA) 2026.
Award’s governing authority – Asia Pacific Quality Organization (APQO) notified the company of the win in an official correspondence earlier this week.
The company emerged victorious from a competitive pol of six shortlisted organisations spanning Thailand, India, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
The GPEA is a formal international recognition of performance and business excellence; and is a strategic enabling tool for global performance excellence.
APQO president and APQO Award Governing Council chair Abraham Fenn said 14 role model organisations from seven countries were being recognised for achieving significant milestones on their business excellence journey.
“They have demonstrated commendable to world class performance required of the three categories of the APQO Global Performance Excellence Awards,” Mr Fenn said in statement.
“The GPEA, which is primarily Baldrige or EFQM based provides a holistic approach to managing organisational success.”
“We are deeply honoured by this recognition at the GPEA 2026. Winning the Best-in-Class award is a testament to the dedication, resilience, and high standards of senior management and our entire workforce,” Mark One Apparel owner and managing director Mark Halabe told this newspaper.
He said the achievement proved that Fijian manufacturing operated at a world-class level, competing with and setting benchmarks across the Asia-Pacific region.
“It reinforces global confidence in Fiji’s manufacturing export sector, demonstrating Fiji commitment to quality, sustainable operations, and operational excellence on the international stage.”
The GPEA 2026 Cycle Awards presentation will be held during the 31st APQO International Conference on October 26-29 at Prime Plaza Hotel Sanur Bali in Indonesia.
The award is required to be received in person at the awards ceremony.
