National carrier Fiji Airways has shattered its all-time ticket sales record, locking in more than 14,000 holiday bookings to Fiji in a single day as the country rides an unprecedented international tourism boom.

This result recorded on September 2 this year surpasses the airline’s previous record of bookings from 2023, and lands in the middle of the airline’s global 75th anniversary sale.

“Fiji is the hot ticket now,” Fiji Airways managing director and chief executive Paul Scurrah said, adding the historic milestone reflected the enduring pull of Fiji as a destination.

“This is our best booking day ever, right in the middle of our 75th birthday celebrations, and it tells us travellers around the world still see Fiji as one of the best places on earth to visit.

“That’s great news for Fiji Airways and great news for Fiji,” he said.

Mr Scurrah said the results mirrored a broader tourism boom for Fiji.

The Fiji Bureau of Statistics recorded around 105,791 visitors came to Fiji in July this year, the first time monthly arrivals had passed 100,000 with year-t0-date arrivals to July up 4.3 per cent on 2025.

He said taken together with the airline’s record booking day, the figures pointed to sustained, broad-based demand for Fiji heading into the airline’s 75th anniversary year.

“Business class bookings were particularly strong, up 17 per cent on the same day last year, while group bookings nearly doubled year-on-year, pointing to growing demand across both leisure and corporate travel.”

“This is a great day for Fiji Airways, but more importantly, it’s a great day for Fiji.

“Every booking is a traveller choosing Fiji, and that means more jobs, more opportunity and more growth for our country.”

The record also comes as Fiji Airways continues to expand its network, having recently added Gold Coast to its Australian schedule, with new services to Nouméa, New Caledonia, launching later this month.

Mr Scurrah said as Fiji’s national carrier, the airline carried the majority of visitors who travelled here each year, and remained one of Fiji’s largest employers and a key contributor to the national economy.
