THE Fijian Elections Office has launched its “Fiji YES Outreach” initiative, as preparations intensify ahead of the upcoming local government and general elections.
During its launch on Monday, Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa said the program was aimed at strengthening voter awareness and ensuring Fijians are informed and ready to participate in the democratic process.
“YES, stands for Your Election, Your Say, at the Fijian Elections Office, our core belief is simple – your election starts with you,” she said.
“It begins the moment you register, and it grows as you understand what elections are truly about.”
“As we approach the local government elections, and of course the general election, our goal is to put the power back where it belongs. And that is into your hands.”
“We want to empower you, our communities, to be ready, be informed, be aware, and to confidently make the decision to vote for the leaders you trust to be your voice. Fiji YES Outreach was designed with you in mind.”
Ms Mataiciwa said the initiative would bring voter registration and awareness closer to communities across Fiji and also to Fijians living overseas, through co-ordinated nationwide outreach programs.”
She said teams are currently deployed across all divisions, reaching both maritime and interior communities, to ensure eligible voters are registered and details are updated ahead of the polls.
The program also includes overseas voter registration, community engagement, and strengthened public awareness on eligibility requirements, registration processes, and key electoral dates.
Ms Mataiciwa urged all Fijians to take responsibility in shaping the nation’s future by ensuring they are registered and prepared to vote when the time comes.
She said active participation remains central to a strong and representative democracy in Fiji.
