Climate change-induced relocation is becoming one of the Pacific’s most pressing challenges, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad.

He has called for urgent and predictable climate finance to address the growing crisis of climate mobility affecting vulnerable Pacific island communities while speaking at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

“The hardest and most difficult part of relocating people and communities is ensuring it is done respectfully and with proper reverence,” he said.

“We cannot walk away from Baku without securing the resources needed to ensure our climate mobility efforts offer hope and resilience now and well into the future.
