BA Methodist High School under-17 side is bracing for a crucial clash in the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League semi-final at Churchill Park this Saturday.
The Ba Methodist U17 Saints will take on RKS Eels in the second semi-final at 11:48am.
Head coach David Wise said preparations had focused on discipline and execution, with the team ready to rise to the occasion.
“Ba Methodist High School is fully prepared and motivated as we head into the semi-finals,” Wise said.
“Our under-17 team has trained hard, focusing on discipline, teamwork and execution of our game plan throughout the week. We are ready for a tough challenge against RKS Eels.”
Despite the magnitude of the match, Wise emphasised the importance of staying grounded.
“We want to keep a low profile going into the match,” he said.
A key factor behind Ba Methodist’s improvement this season has been its growing partnership with the Ba Rugby Union, with both entities working closely to establish a rugby academy within the school.
The initiative has provided players with structured development pathways, better coaching support and exposure to higher-level training standards translating into stronger performances on the field.
Support from parents, old scholars, teachers and the Nailaga community has also played a vital role in lifting the team’s morale.
With momentum building and systems now in place, Ba Methodist will be eager to prove that its rise is no coincidence when it takes the field this weekend.
