Applications open for Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner post

The Constitutional Offices Commission has officially advertised the position of Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service, inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals.

According to the public notice, the Commissioner will be responsible for the organisation, administration, deployment and operational control of the Fiji Corrections Service in accordance with Section 130(5) of the Constitution.

The successful applicant will also hold powers relating to appointments, removals and disciplinary actions involving all ranks, members and employees within the Corrections Service.

Under the Constitution, the Commissioner, with agreement from the responsible Minister, will also determine matters relating to employment conditions, qualifications for appointments, salaries, benefits, allowances and staffing establishment levels within the approved parliamentary budget.

The role additionally includes responsibility for preparing and implementing the Fiji Corrections Service strategic plan, annual corporate plan and annual budget.

The advertisement states that applicants must possess extensive and relevant experience within the corrections service field, while a formal degree qualification from a recognised university is considered desirable.

Applicants are also expected to demonstrate strategic leadership, integrity, transparency and the ability to manage staff, resources and stakeholder relationships effectively.

The Commissioner will be appointed by the President on the advice of the Constitutional Offices Commission following consultation with the Minister responsible for the Fiji Corrections Service.

The Commission stated that an attractive remuneration package would be offered to the successful candidate.

Applications, including a comprehensive curriculum vitae and the names of at least two referees, must be submitted to the Secretary of the Constitutional Offices Commission no later than 4.30pm on May 30, 2026.
