Aircraft found difficulty landing, says Northern Air owner

Listen to this article:

A NORTHERN Air plane that faced difficulties landing at Savusavu Airport on Vanua Levu yesterday had been flown back to Nausori Airport and released for service.

Northern Air owner Rainjash San said because of the rainy conditions yesterday, the plane found difficulty landing — overruning the apron slightly.

“The aircraft flew out of Nausori to Savusavu at midday today (yesterday),” he said.

“We clarify that the aircraft landed safely and the crew and passengers were safe. They safely disembarked the aircraft before investigations into the incident began.

“Engineers were deployed to tailor out inspections required and advise on the aircraft condition.”

Mr San said the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF) was informed of the incident and they had deployed their personnel to the site of the incident immediately.

“After the engineering inspection, the aircraft was flown back to Nausori and released for service,” he said.

Mr San refuted claims by other media reports that the plane had gotten out of control before pilot skill saved the day.

“These are allegations made by hearsay statements made by other members of the public,” he said.

The aircraft in question is a Bandeirante EMB110.
