HEALTH Minister Rosy Akbar says World Food Day has become one of the greatest platforms to increase public awareness on addressing food insecurity in Fiji.

Speaking at celebrations in Sigatoka today, she said it had helped Government in its efforts to reduce hunger, poverty and malnutrition.

“The theme for this year’s World Food Day celebrations is ‘Our Actions are our Future. A Zero Hunger world by 2030 is Possible’,” she said.

“It has been chosen as the theme to highlight how food and agriculture needs to adapt to climate change in order to feed a growing global population in a sustainable way.”
