Nine children have successfully undergone surgery over three days — thanks to a collaboration between visiting surgeons and staff members of the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital this week.

In a statement, the hospital stated that an international team from the US, UAE, Australia, and New Zealand had completed nine successful surgeries within three days.

Sai Sanjeevani Hospital director Dr Krupali Tappoo also expressed deep gratitude towards team leader Dr Shaun Setty and the team.

Dr Tappoo said their efforts had offered hope to some of the most critically ill children in need of urgent surgical care, and some children had very complex lesions and required the most skilled of specialists.

These surgeries also mark the culmination of a significant milestone, as a total of 270 children have received free life-saving heart surgeries and procedures as of yesterday.

In addition, over 16,000 free echocardiograms have also been conducted by the hospital’s heart screening centre.
