THE “Re-Thinking Democracy” workshop organised by the Media Watch Group (MWG) embraces the fact that leadership  is crucial for non-governmental organisations to be able to affect change.

MWG’s acting director Laitia Tamata highlighted the importance of understanding and effectively applying the concept of rethinking the rights of civil society and its responsibilities in terms of democracy and the right to information.

The workshop was attended by the Citizens Constitutional Forum (CCF), Ecumenical Centre for Research, Education and Advocacy (ECREA), Pacific Islands Association Non-Governmental Organisations (PIANGO), Fiji Council of Social Services (FCOSS) and Partners in Community Development in Fiji.

Mr Tamata adds participants must embrace the important roles each of their institutions contribute to CSOs since the general elections is approaching.
