STUDENTS of Suva Sangam College were advised to learn other foreign languages which would be helpful in the business world.

While addressing students during the launch of the school’s Language Week yesterday, The Fiji Times editor-in-chief, Fred Wesley said learning another foreign language was also appreciated at The Fiji Times.

“Language helps us to communicate, it helps us to argue, to learn and to negotiate. “Language plays a very important role in a person’s personality and of course we use language to inform the people around us of what we feel, what we desire, what we question and how we understand the world around us.”

“To be able to communicate, we need to present our news in a way that is easily understood by all,” he said of The Fiji Times.

“We see how it will affect you because you will understand it better that way.” The theme for the school’s Language Week is “Language Diversity, Our Future”.

It concludes on Thursday.
