Team Fiji weightlifter Taniela Rainibogi had an outstanding performance at the Oceania Weightlifting Championships in Auckland, New Zealand, securing a silver medal in the men’s 102kg category.

Rainibogi showcased his strength by lifting 160kg in the snatch and 205kg in the clean and jerk, earning himself a spot on the podium.

However, his achievement was made bittersweet by the recent passing of two of his close family members, his uncle and grandmother.

Despite this personal loss, Rainibogi remained committed to representing his country and made the difficult decision to continue his training for the Olympic Games qualifying event.

Koro Tuiqalau also made a remarkable debut on the international stage, securing two gold medals in the youth and junior men’s 102kg category.

His lifts of 86kg in the snatch and 107kg in the clean and jerk demonstrated his strength and skill, earning him well-deserved victories in both categories.

Furthermore, 24-year-old Timothy Vakuruivalu also made Team Fiji proud by winning a bronze medal in the men’s 109kg category.

His lifts of 120kg in the snatch and 140kg in the clean and jerk showcased his talent and dedication to the sport.
