“We are proud of his achievement.” These were the words of Isikeli Ratulevu, father of Flying Fijians utility back Josua Tuisova.

Tuisova was named man of the match in Fiji’s historic win against the Wallabies. Ratulevu said they communicated with Tuisova early Tuesday and told him how proud they were of his achievements.

“He played really well and gave his best to score that try,” Ratulevu said.

“When he didn’t start against Wales we were confident he would not only start, but make a huge impact against Australia.”

Ratulevu said he was awake the entire night to watch his son play early the next morning. “He is the youngest in the family and that is another reason why we are so proud of him.

“We talked to him this morning and gave him our blessings for the next game against Georgia, so that the team can make it to the quarter-finals.

“The vanua o Ba is so proud of their son, who has stamped his mark in the world of rugby.”

The Racing 92 winger scored Fiji’s only try in the 22-15 win against the Wallabies. In his 67 minutes on the field, Tuisova made 12 tackles, won three turnovers, beat 10 defenders and made 10 carries.

Following the win, the Votua, Ba hulk told Reuters the win against Australia was a historical one for the Flying Fijians.

“We treated this match as a final, it’s just incredible to win,” said Tuisova.

Fiji faces Georgia at the Stade de Bordeaux in Bordeaux on October 1.
