PEOPLE of Wainibuka in Tailevu now have better access to eight free-to-air channels offered by the new digital broadcasting platform Walesi.

The TV platform introduced in Naveicovatu in Wainibuka yesterday was officially launched by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology permanent secretary Deborah Weiss.

She said Walesi would ensure Fijians and students in Wainibuka had better access to educational information aired on the platform.

The free-to-air channels include FBC TV, FBC Sports, FBC 2, Fiji One, Channel 2, MaiTV, Hope Channel and Parliament TV.

Ms Weiss said Walesi to date had distributed 125,920 set-top boxes.

“This is good for the Rugby World Cup that is coming up,” she said.

The launch yesterday covered the villages of Natokalau, Malabe, Naveicovatu, Nasautoka, Nabouva, Wailotua 1, Nayavu, Naqia, Wailevu and Wailotua II.
