WAF employee charged with bribery

THE Assistant Finance Officer for Water Authority of Fiji appeared at the Suva Magistrates court charged with one count of bribery this afternoon.

It is alleged that Tuimasi Cataki accepted $500 from the Director of Phoenix Solution on account of him performing an act in his capacity as a public servant.

The alleged incident occurred between September 1, 2016 and January 31, 2017, in Suva.

FICAC lawyer Sera Fatafehi did not object to bail however asked the court to impose strict bail conditions.

She also served the first phase disclosures.

Magistrate Waleen George granted Mr Cataki bail in the sum of $500 and has ordered him to report to the Samabula Police Station.

The case has been adjourned to February 20, 2019.
