WHILE most families are celebrating Father’s Day today, Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation  Mereseini Vuniwaqa is urging fathers to take time to realise the important role of their wives, mothers and sisters.

And with the an alarming rate of violence against women, Ms Vuniwaqa said men have an important role in safeguarding women in their families more so in the society they lived in.

Meanwhile, Mrs Vuniwaqa took time out early this morning to visit people living on the streets of Suva.

Her visit was part of the ministry’s partnership with the Fiji Police Force called the Loloma Operation.
