Lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo replaced wigs and gowns with overalls and boots when he embarked on his first official visit to the Western Division as Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources.

He first visited a team from the ministry who were constructing a borehole pump house at a settlement in Momi Bay, Nadroga.

The borehole will cater for 23 households with an estimated daily demand of 8000 litres.

Mr Vosarogo reminded his team that their work would determine their legacy.

“This is the first time for me to replace the wig and gown with overalls and to replace sandals with boots and to join you where government has called you to serve the people,” he said.

“The work you do directly impacts people’s lives and you help in lessening the burden of everyday life to bring to these communities a basic necessity such as water.

“There are no words really to show my personal appreciation for your dedication.

“You leave your families behind to be here and help these families.

“This will be your legacy to leave behind with these communities.”

Mr Vosarogo is on a three-day visit to the Western Division.
