LABASA volunteers of the Fiji Red Cross Society took to the streets today to observe World Red Cross Day.
Volunteers and staff of the Labasa Hospital Blood Bank conducted a blood drive as well to commemorate this day.
Labasa branch president Adi Asenaca Katonivualiku said they had also given out pamphlets and information booklets to members of the public regarding their services.
“We are a volunteer service and having a day set aside around the world to commemorate this, including our humble beginnings, is a significant reminder to us that we are here to answer to a calling,” Adi Asenaca said.
“Therefore, we decided to hold the blood drive today as a way of marking what we do best, serve the people and work voluntarily for the good of the public.”
