The Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Welfare, Empower Pacific and the Ministry of Employment celebrated World Mental Health Day at Marata Wellness Centre in Wailoku, Suva under the theme “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change.”

Chief guest Sainimere Gadai said lived experiences were “not just about survival, but blueprint for systematic reforms,” while Psychiatric Survivors Association rep Aca Tamanitoakula shared his journey, saying “sometimes we tend to ask what is wrong with this person and not what this person needs from us.”

The program included talanoa sessions on mental health, stigma and access to support services with the Marata community.
