Fiji will observe a public holiday on Monday, October 12, for Fiji Day, following a revised declaration published in the Government of Fiji Gazette.
The Extraordinary Gazette, dated October 9, lists Fiji Day (Observed) among 11 public holidays for 2026.
The declaration was issued by Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations Minister Siromi Turaga under sections 64 and 65 of the Employment Relations Act 2007, following the Prime Minister’s approval.
Permanent Secretary for Employment Maritino Nemani told The Fiji Times the public holiday schedule for tomorrow has been scrapped.
The revised notice also declares Diwali a public holiday on Monday, November 9, and rescinds the previous 2026 public holiday declaration published in Gazette Notice No. 70 of 2025.
