THE Vodafone Futsal Inter District Championship will be held in Suva next week.
Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel said it was a pathway to revive Futsal in the country.
“We have had league competitions in the past few months and we have received good response in that. This IDC will see the best eight districts in the country come together and battle for the top prize,” said Mr Patel.
OFC Futsal Development Officer Paul Toohey said Fiji needs to get back to where they were in Futsal.
“I remember we used to have a lot of tournaments at the Vodafone Arena but Fiji has not participated in Oceania lately. We are having the OFC Championships in New Caledonia and we are hopeful that a huge number of teams will take part in that one,” he said.
Meanwhile, the pool draws were done today for next week’s IDC.
Pool A has Rewa, Suva, Labasa and Tavua while Pool B has Navua, Tailevu Naitasir, Nadroga and Nadi.
The tournament will be held from April 5-7, 2019 at Suva’s ANZ Stadium.
The winner walks away with $3000 while runner up gets $1500.
