Vatukacevaceva villagers in Rakiraki came together to shore up a crossing that was partially damaged in recent flooding.
The Nacovu Crossing is the only way in and out of village. “On wet days people of Vatukacevaceva face problems and students aren’t able to attend classes and sick villagers not able to visit health facilities,” said villager Tokoni Lani in a social media post.
“We were promised after the general elections in 2022 that the Ra Province will have three major bridge repair and that one of the three will be the Nacovu Crossing in Vatukacevaceva.”
“We are still waiting. Question is when it will be built. So, in times like this, we work hand in hand and as a whole community we came to fill in gaps on the bridge of Nacovu Crossing to allow transportation across.”
