VILLAGERS in the district of Lekutu in Bua, Vanua Levu, have been urged to take advantage of the Ministry of Forests free tree seedling distribution under Fiji’s Reforestation of Degraded Forests (RDF) program.

The ministry is distributing free seedlings of native trees to villages, including mahogany and pine.

Speaking at the Lekutu district meeting at Votua Village yesterday, ministry official Ilaisa Mataqeledra reminded the villagers that they too must contribute in re-growing their forests, at the same time contribute to efforts of combating climate change.

“Villages can submit the minute of their meeting with their request letter to their nearest forestry office if they are interested to join the RDF program,” Mr Mataqeledra said.

The meeting was attended by village headmen in the district.
