The Lautoka rugby side edged Tailevu 15-8 in the Skipper Cup competition at Nausori’s Ratu Cakobau Park on Saturday.

Tailevu had the first points on the board with a penalty from fullback Emori Tadulala.

Lautoka scored the only try of the first spell through winger Nacanieli Vulo to lead 8-3 at halftime. Maroons flanker Raikabula Momoedonu scored the teams second try in the second spell to extend the lead to 15-3.

Tailevu did get a consolation try but it wasn’t enough as Lautoka took home the win and four points.

In other Skipper Cup matches over the weekend, Namosi edged Ba 29-27, Macuata thumped Yasawa 32-15 while Suva beat Naitasiri 28-23
