The Vanuatu women’s rugby 7s team has withdrawn from the 2024 McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s due to a lack of financial support from the Vanuatu Rugby Union (VRU).
Vanuatu women’s manager, Miltus Talili, expressed disappointment, stating, “We are not coming to Fiji, there was no word from VRU.”
“We registered, but VRU did not help with funding.” Initially enthusiastic about their Coral Coast 7s debut, the Vanuatu women have now lost interest due to the lack of support from the Union.
Talili added, “The girls have lost interest now.”
Meanwhile, Coral Coast 7s coordinator Jay Whyte confirmed Freshet Navy Women’s 7s team would replace Vanuatu.
