FIJIAN police officers deployed on future United Nations peacekeeping missions will soon receive training by United States of America law enforcement agencies.
A document signifying an agreement between the Fiji Police Force and the U.S Department of State will be signed tomorrow at the Police Headquarters in Suva.
The agreement between Fijian law enforcement and the U.S Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) means new Fiji Police Force units and individual police officers will get “U.S-sponsored training” according to a media alert from the US Embassy in Suva.
“The training, conducted under the auspices of the U.S Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), is designed to enhance the Republic of Fiji’s ability to deliver high-quality police peacekeepers to UN and regional missions,” the media alert stated.
“In partnership with the Republic of Fiji, trainers will provide technical advice to Fiji’s ability to effectively deploy police peacekeepers (both units and individuals) and to develop pre-deployment training, schedules, logistics, tactics, command, and administration.”
