US sprint champion joins Fiji’s national women’s team

USA-based Trina Davis has joined the Vodafone Fiji Football side in preparation for the OFC Women’s Nations Cup.

Davis is a district champion in the 100m and 200m and plays as a centre forward for the Marysville Pilchuck in the USA.

Her mother is from Lautoka and she also holds a Fijian passport which makes her eligible to play for Fiji.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Moahmmed Yusuf has confirmed of Davis’ arrival on Tuesday night.

Davis, on her Facebook page, also expressed her excitement to play for Fiji.

Meanwhile, the Fiji team to play at the qualifiers tournament next week will be named today.

Fiji will compete against Solomom Islands, Vanuatu and American Samoa for a spot in the OFC Women’s Nations Cup in New Caledonia in November.

The qualifiers tournament will be held at Lautoka’s Churchill Park from the 22nd to the 27th of this month.
